Nexium Control 20 mg Tablets contain 20 mg of esomeprazole. It is used to control the acidity (lowness) of a stomach or to reduce the frequency of acidity episodes in individuals with reflux disease or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This medication is also used to control symptoms of acid reflux, such as frequent heartburn, peptic ulcers and stomach pain. It is used to treat reflux disease or to control symptoms of GERD in adults and children over 12 years of age.

Controlled:

Nexium Control 20 mg Tablets are not suitable for use in children and adolescents (aged 12 years and over).

Side Effects

Common side effects include nausea, headache, and stomach or back pain. More serious side effects include chest pain or shortness of breath. The risk of getting stomach or back pain is increased if the drug is taken with food and/or with a high-fat meal. Esomeprazole should be taken with food and/or with a high-fat meal.

Precautions

Before using Nexium Control 20 mg Tablets, tell your doctor or dentist about any food, drink or recreational drug you may be taking (prescription or recreational drugs), particularly:

Alcohol:

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using any other oral or parenteral medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins or supplements.

Disease-specific antacid tablets:

Tell your doctor or dentist if you are taking any new or used once-daily antiseptics or painkillers.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. They can assess your risk and decide if you should be exposed to diclofenac or to other antacids containing diclofenac.

Drug Interactions

• phenobarbitone
• phenytoin
• phenytoin-containing medicines

Some medications may interact with diclofenac:

• metoprolol
• metoprofen
• narcotic pain medicines

Certain antibiotics may interact with esomeprazole:

• ciprofloxacin
• tetracycline
• nortriptyline
• fluroquinolone antibiotics

Certain chemotherapy drugs may reduce the effectiveness of esomeprazole:

• doxazosin
• tertiary butylhydroxytreonine

If you are taking proton pump inhibitors such as:

• lisinopril
• terproex
• prazosin
• abemacicranole
• lithium

Nexium 24HR 20 mg enteric coated tablets for the lasting symptomatic relief of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the Consumer Medicine Information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.

Always read the label, use only as directed. Contraindications

Nexium 24HR should be taken for 7 days with liquid first aid kit. If symptoms persist or recur, speak to your doctor; if they remain following 14 days or more, see your doctor. If a larger amount of blood are required for more than 14 days, speak to your doctor.

Driving or using machines

Nexium 24HR may cause dizziness or dizziness accompanied by nausea, vomiting, or cramps. Use a light sedative or reduce your risk for developing blurred vision or other symptoms of dizziness. Nexium 24HR contains lactose.
