Nexium Capsule 40mg is a medication used to treat frequent heartburn (occurs 2 or more days a week). Nexium capsules contain a low dose of Esomeprazole Magnesium, which is an acid blocker. Nexium capsules work by reducing stomach acid to prevent the breakdown of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and other gastrointestinal acid produced by the stomach. Nexium capsules work by reducing acid in the stomach that is produced by the small intestine. Nexium works for up to 5 hours, giving you relief from frequent heartburn.
